2016 925 Ambassador - Tati

We're excited to introduce the first of our 2016 925 Ambassadors to you! Tati has been with us for almost two years (in August) and has been a constant source of encouragement at the box. She's always looking for ways to help 925 make a bigger impact and provide more as a box. Check out her bio below:

I started at CrossFit 925 in August 2014 when I wanted something that could help me get strong. My husband's medical condition of grand-mal seizures was getting worse, and I was unable to move him off the floor or stop him from getting hurt (he weighed 200 lbs at the time). 

I had no idea about CrossFit or what it was all about. In fact, I had no idea about working out at all. Even running was a challenge for me! The only sport I ever did was volleyball, and that was when I was in high school. I remember seeing the Crossfit 925 sign for a least two years before I actually stopped by and asked if someone could teach me how to lift 200 pounds off the ground. This was after my husband had a violent seizure, so while driving back from the hospital I'd had this worthless feeling because I couldn't move him an inch.

Ben was the coach that first day, and I asked him a lot of questions about the the possibility of joining for the reasons I explained before. I never thought myself capable of lifting my husband. Part of me expected him to laugh and say that I was crazy! However, he did not laugh. With a very serious tone, he said, "If you give it time and consistency, it is possible." 

I said, " really? You think this is possible?"  When I heard him confirm it, I said I would like to give it a try and began soon after. 

My husband had numerous seizures after that and I found, to my surprise, that I was able to move him and keep him safe. Personally, this is the biggest accomplishment I had since I started.

I enjoy the group setting and the camaraderie of working out together, as well as the competitive push from time to time to work harder against someone else. However, what I consider the most valuable at CrossFit 925 is the “family” feelingand the continuous support of the coaches and members. 

I have made a lot of progress since I started CrossFit. I remember being so frustrated because I could not do double-unders, or just because I was unable to RX the WODs. But with consistency and dedication to the sport, I have been able to make a lot of improvements with each WOD.

CrossFit 925 has impacted my life in many different ways. I still get overwhelmed at how different my life is as compared to 20 years ago. I’m physically stronger and I’m happier than I’ve ever been. I found motivated athletes – students, nurses, firemen, housewives, professionals, people of all ages – with whom I share goals, passions and values. I bonded with most of them and some of these people are becoming real and solid friends.

Furthermore, I learned to accept help in time of need – we appreciate that little push when we are fighting against our comfort zones – and to appreciate the Spirit of Community. I truly love our boxand I hope to get stronger and better everyday for my family, my friends, and for myself!
